The Education Room

The Education Room provides an excellent environment for learning.

Art and creative workshops provide children with the opportunity to develop their ideas and are based around the Museum’s collection.

You can select from the following workshops.

PLAYERS IN ACTION (KS1 & KS2)

This is a great starting point for figure drawing and 3D artwork. Using the Museum’s collection as the stimulus, through careful observations children develop sketches to be translated into a sculpture. The sculpture is made using modelling wire and mod roc. The models will need to be painted back at school

CERAMIC PAINTING (KS1 & KS2)

The children will be using the Museum as inspiration for their designs. The pupils explore the Museum and collect sketches of objects they particularly like. The session then moves to the Education Room where the children develop their designs. The group learn how to use the ceramic paints and are taught different paint effects. The children transfer their designs onto the bisque using pencil and paint their piece. The bisque is sent away to be glazed and fired and are usually ready for collection 2 weeks after the workshop.
