Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum Wins Silver in Product Innovation

March 2006

Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum continues its winning streak with another title, this time with a Silver European Chinese Tourists Welcoming Award 2006 in Production Innovation.

The ECTW Award is recognised in China and Europe as the most important sign of quality for the European Chinese inbound market and is awarded in five categories: Product Innovation, Website, Human Resources Development, Marketing and Overall Performance.

“It is a great honour to accept this 2006 ECTW Product Innovation Award and I am delighted that all our efforts have been so highly rewarded and recognised,” said Ashley Jones, the WLTM spokesperson. He adds, “The award further demonstrates our commitment to our international visitors to enhance their overall experience at the Museum.”

As part of its re-invention, the new Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum has been acknowledged for its efforts in product innovation that includes an audio tour in Mandarin. With a growing interest in the game of tennis in China, particularly after Beijing was awarded the Summer Olympic Games in 2008, the tour caters to the increasing number of Chinese tennis fans who visit the site of the Wimbledon Championships or who wish to get a feel for one of the London Olympic venues in 2012.

The new Museum is the culmination of a five year multi-million pound relocation, redesign and refurbishment. It features a range of dynamic and multimedia displays with an audio tour produced by Antenna Audio to guide visitors around and immerse them in a multi-sensory experience. As well as the tour in Mandarin, Antenna Audio has produced a version of the tour in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Japanese as well as for visually impaired
